Log InThe Annual Mammogram reminder and Carnation distribution project was held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 . Three hundred pink carnations with mammogram reminder tags were handed out to women in three locations around Salmon Arm by members of Friends Abreast Dragon Boat team. The carnations were generously donated by Save On Foods. Team members encouraged ladies to book their mammograms at the new Mammography Unit in the Salmon Arm Hospital.

The Shuswap Dragon Boat Society/Friends Abreast team were invited to attend the grand opening of the Mammography Unit at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital. It was a pretty special moment for our team to celebrate with the Shuswap Hospital Foundation. Our team helped raise monies to donate to the campaign in 2022. Donna Hazell is one of the founding members of the Shuswap Dragon Boat Society/Friends Abreast which formed in 2002. Being a longtime breast cancer survivor, dragon boating is very personal to her. In her many years with the team, she has been president, been on committees ie. Breast Cancer Awareness, and an ambassador to try out the sport.
