Festivals

In 2019 the Shuswap Rowing and Paddling Festival returned to Salmon Arm in June after a two-year absence. Our new and seasoned paddlers were excited to be paddling at home once again.

The carnation ceremony saw three full boats of survivors paddle together down the course and across the finish line. It was very overwhelming for those on the boats. Our team managed to participate in two races before the weather played havoc and the remainder of the festival had to be cancelled.

Despite not participating in the Vernon Festival In July, a few of our paddlers helped one of the Vernon ladies teams fill one of their boat with paddlers from four different teams. A paddler is a paddler – everyone worked well together, made new friends and vowed to do it again soon … go Vernon Dragon Darlin’s !!

Once again we headed to the Kamloops Festival in August. Paddlers from G.T. Riders, Blind Bay joined us completing our roster. We placed 4th in the women’s Red A final. With three survivor boats paddling together on the river for the carnation ceremony, it was a very moving event for supporters and survivors.
